Have been looking forward to playing this public city owned course for quite some time now and it finally happened. I paid $32.00 for 18 w/cart (3,015yd Front / 3,312yd Back) on this warm Saturday morning and was greeted with full lush green grass from OB to OB, which is rare for the dry conditions we are having in Michigan this year. Was surprised by the rolling contoured fairways that feed the mostly raised, sand trap protected, lush greens that waited to greet and hold any shot (3I to 3w) thrown at them. They were a little slower than I normally like them (6-7), but being green (No burn spots) and rolling smooth was a welcome sight. Fairways being mowed tight, 2-3" thick green rough, lined with hardwood trees in the landing areas, made it easy to focus on how you would attack each hole. I played all the holes from the tips and having three (3) par 3's at 200yds+ (200, 201, 220yds), being well protected by front sand traps I only parred #14 @ 201yds. I played the Par 35/36 scoring and shot 38/37 w/34putts as the driver and 3 wood were performing very good today and keeping me out of trouble. For being a older, short yardage design, this track can hold its own if you miss the landing areas which I didn't on this day. This older Bruce Matthews layout is worth playing because of the straight forward challenging layout and conditions you will find, wherever your ball lands.
